Stream of Consciousness Art Journal Page

Hello All,
Today I wanted to make a simple art journal page just to keep me in the groove. Today was the first day back to school and work for many...and well I am just a bit tired. I decided to watch a video or two from Creative Jumpstart to get moving. Here is the resulting art journal page.

I started out trying some inspiration from Nathalie Kalbach from Creative Jumpstart. She was trying out a new brush and just seemed to be quickly smooshing around some nice color in a 'stream of consciousness' sort of way. Intuitive and without much fuss. So I gave that a try.

Next I added in some stenciling first with acrylic paint on a cosmetic wedge, and then with a Heidi Swapp white spray. You can see I still think circles make the world go around!

I then added some more circles with round things on my desk dipped in acrylic. Then just started using my fingers to apply paint. This is when I really decided the theme of my page.

I went to the computer and printed a few things. One being this definition of stream of consciousness. I wanted it to look like it was ripped from a dictionary or something..so I distressed it with yellow and tan dye inks from Stampin' Up!, and a sponge.

I cut out a phrase I had printed using a free font called ransom note. I attached those using matte liquid medium.

Now I needed a main focal point image, so I decided to make a tag using watercolor paper. I sprayed some Heidi Swapp sprays out and smooshed some color onto the tag to give a background. These sprays are shimmery which is kind of cool too.

Then I sketched and painted a girl onto the tag. I wanted to try out shading and highlights with other colors then peach and pinks. I had a bit of trouble making a nice image because the paper was very rough...a cold pressed watercolor paper (yuck)

Finally I assembled the page using all the elements plus a thought bubble for the girl and some randomly placed washi tape. I hope you enjoyed my project :)

PS...For those who were worried after my last post that I would never get my Lifebook week one painting done...I did :) Here she is, my tree angel.
