Pink & Orange Obsession - DLP Week #6

Hello :)

Today I am sharing my Documented Life Project (DLP) page for week #6. Since it is a new month there is a new theme which is 'layers you will love'. The weekly challenge is 'when not to stop'. The prompt is 'don't stop til you get enough' which just puts that annoying Michael Jackson song in my head! As I was thinking about the challenge it just seemed to me to say....HOW MANY LAYERS CAN YOU HAVE??? Ok..there is a challenge right up my alley. LOL The idea about DLP also seems to be making a journal about what is going on in your life. Right now I am just unable to stop using a pink and orange palette. I would say...I have a pink and orange OBSESSION. So I decided to add that to my page this week.

To start out I was wanting to play with my small Gelli plate as I have not pulled it out recently. I like to put it on a acrylic block and use it 'stamp style' to add a bit of color to my pages. I got out some pink craft acrylic paint and it was a bit dry...I started to tap it from the bottle onto my gelli plate and it ended up making a cool pattern. I decided not to brayer it smooth, but to just go with it as is onto my paper. That turned out really cool so I did it again with a coral orange color.

Next I added some neon pink and bright orange acrylic over the page using a old credit card. Scratching and scraping. Then I wrote some journaling about my obsession all over the page with a regular black ink pen.

Now I decided to do some collage over the background. I used a couple different napkins I had laying around and attached them with liquid matte medium. This gave me the idea of having flowers on the page.

At this point the page was POPPING with color...so much it might make your eyes bleed. I decided to mute it a bit by brayering on a light coat of gesso. I had a bit of gesso left over so I made a area for a face. (I am also obsessed with faces at the moment...I blame the class I am taking from Gulfsprite)

Next I was thinking..hey this is a Dylusions journal...I should actually put some Dylusions in it...so I got out my pink and orange sprays. I put a piece of scratch paper over my face area and then used a flower stencil and sprayed over it. The excess spray I put on a napkin so I am sure you will see it in another project soon unless I get over this pink and orange thing!

Once the spray was dry I used my graphite pencil to draw in the features. Then I decided to make a textured area on the left with my home made texture paste. I used a stencil and scraped over it with a palette knife.

At this point I painted and shaded my face and the flower in her hair. I used a combination of water soluble crayons and white acrylic paint.

To finish off my page I used a stabillo auqarellable pencil to go around things and add shadows. I blended it with a water brush. Then I added some lines and my title with a sharpie poster paint pen. I also went around some of the flowers with white Sakura gel pen and added some white splatter. These steps are not very visible because the Dylusions sprays just bleed into the white you put over the top. I forgot about that :P

I hope you enjoyed my page for DLP this week.
