My Project for Canvas Corp Brands 'Family Challenge' - Memorial Flip Book

Hello Friends :)

Today I want to share with you a project I made as a gift for my Mother on Memorial Day. It is a little flip book with photos of my Grandmother. We all miss Grandma Grace and I wanted to make something you could hold and look at to remember her. There are not many photos of her around. When I knew her she was camera shy and wouldn't let you take many pictures. Photos of her when she was younger and her 10 children were small were all destroyed in a house fire. So, what we do have is very precious. The photos I used in this project were printed on my printer using scans of a few existing photos. Don't freak out archivists..LOL..these are copies! Not originals. I think my little book turned out pretty nice and I think my Mom will love it.
So why a flip book you ask? Well a couple of reasons. One is that I was watching a video on Youtube from Yva Lovee Arts channel...and I saw an absolutely adorable flip book she made. I was intrigued by the way it flipped open then flipped again for more pages. It is a very simple concept...but I do not think I would have come up with it. I would have made a'book' that the pages turned instead. So thanks to Yva for the inspiration :) The other reason is there is a blog link up and contest going on over at Canvas Corp Brands blog called the  'Family Challenge'. It is all about using their products to make something all about family. I am on the design team for CCB and I thought it was a perfect opportunity to make my little gift using the products I have from them. That two birds one stone thing :) I really enjoyed ripping into the mixed paper pack I used. The paper was all great quality and lots of variety as well. And of course I always use their mists. Great colors and shimmer options. If you want to enter the 'family challenge' too...here is the link. Click on the 'click here' to take you there :)

  1. Lovely project Shel! Makes me want to go back to scrapbooking - I think most of us started out from there! We shouldn't forget our roots. It's so nice to present our photos and memories this way!

  7. Good morning Shel... What a wonderful tribute you created for your Mom. In this day of instant photo taking and photo sharing we forget that there was a time when photos were a lot harder to come by and we have far fewer of them, so they are very precious indeed. You have created a wonderful tribute to be treasured. You are also touching on something I feel very strongly about, that although most of us don't like the way we look in photos and avoid being in them, I feel that we MUST do it for our family and friends in the future... Because one day those photos will be the only physical reminders of us they will have. So thank you for sharing and By the way...I am loving these videos that allow me to hear you, watch you create and get a sense of the wonderful person you...(((hugs)))
