A Fun Collaboration with a Fun Friend :)

Hello Friends :)

I wanted to talk a little bit about 'internet friends' :) Some may say they are not 'real' friends...but I will disagree! I am some sort of a hermit in real life. I like to stay in my studio and rarely interact with others. I do not feel I have much in common with the people I 'know'..and I feel uncomfortable around lots of people. Loud talking and sounds and strong smells bother me. I am just overly sensitive I guess. I was not always this way... in the past I was some sort of a social butterfly type. Now I seem to be in a cocoon. lol.
A couple of years ago I started exploring the arts community on the internet. I was watching Youtube videos and I found out about G+ Communities. I was interested in learning more about Mixed Media and so I joined a few communities that were talking about it. You know what? There are tons of nice people who have the same interests as me out in the world! And the magic of the internet can connect us ;) Once I started to make Youtube videos myself about 10 months ago...I found even MORE new friends...'internet friends'. These people are much more supportive then most people I know in 'real life'. They like the same things I do. They want to talk about art with me! If I have a sad day..they lift me up. One of these friends is a girl with a Youtube channel named Yva and we decided to collaborate on some art. Talking over the internet has made us realize we are very similar...both in style of art and life experiences...so we thought it would be a great match up. We each created a mixed media background on a canvas and mailed it to each other. Then we each finished the canvas with a focal image and plan to mail them back. I want to share them with you!

I do not have many photos....so I will put the links to all the videos.

This is my background I created and mailed to Yva...

You can see me making it in this video...

And Yva finishing it for me in this video....

Here is my finished canvas I made for Yva...

Me completing Yva's canvas in this video...

And Yva making the background of this canvas in this video...

There is also a give away going along with our collaboration for a mixed media canvas we both worked on. Anyone who comments on all four videos in entered in the drawing to win :)

I hope you enjoyed seeing this internet friend collaboration...if you did leave me a comment...somewhere!

  3. What a great way to play and beautiful results! And you are not over-sensitive, Shel - I, too, am bothered by strong smells and loud noises, often being able to smell and hear things that other people can't. It sounds like you're more introvert than extrovert.

    1. Thank you Tracy :) Yes, I am an introvert for sure! The worlds going on in my head are often much more interesting to me then what is going on outside.

    2. Hi Shel, after viewing many, many of your videos and the two of us commenting from time to time, it finally dawned on me to sign up for your email posts.... Now, I will get to see everything you are doing, rather than always turning to YouTube. I love to watch your creative play with mediums , and like I havez mentioned, I love listening to your soothing, friendly voice and your special giggle. I do learn so much from you, in your unpretentious manner. You are my favorite YouTube artist! Thanks for all tthe hours, you have spent making and uploading all the tutorials, you do so,well. You are terrific! AKA Cheryl7476

    3. Aww thank you Cheryl :) You will find I do a pretty spotty job of keeping up my blog these days LOL. I do try..but Youtube is my main focus and it is very time consuming. I think there is a notifications option on Youtube when you are subscribed to my channel and it lets you know somehow if I upload something new. I need to learn more about that as I am subscribed to many many Youtube creators but really only emotionally invested in a few of them..lol I need to turn on notifications for those 10-15 I really really want to track! Thanks for your kind words and support...you are awesome!
